“The truest form of love is how you behave toward someone, not how you feel about them.” ~ Steve Hall

Love is conscious. It’s a choice.

When you’re living with someone or around someone often, it can be easy to get caught up in the mundane day-to-day. Sometimes you find that all their little quirks just start to bug you… and then you can’t unsee them. You start to notice and nag on everything.

There’s a simple solution to this though. Just as you let negativity take over. You can also consciously choose the good.

Remind yourself of their positive traits. Dwell on them when they happen.

Action:

Choose someone you love, preferably the person you’re closest to. Journal all of their good traits. Look for traits you may not have brought attention to before. Write until your hand hurts.

Ideas for who to choose:

  • spouse
  • bestie
  • roomie
  • parent
  • child
  • anyone else close to you

Bonus:

Meditate on sending this person love. Replay your favorite moment.

Bonus #2:

Compliment this person and bring to their attention your gratitude for everything they do. Positive re-enforcement works. You are most likely to see change when you encourage someone with thing they’re already doing.
