Podcasts for Empaths

If you are wondering what it means to be an empath or you want to be able to relate better to someone in your life who is an empath, you’ve come to the right place.

So how do you know if you're an empath?

  • Have you been labeled as “overly sensitive,” shy, or introverted?
  • Do you frequently get overwhelmed or anxious?
  • Do arguments or yelling make you ill?
  • Do you absorb other people’s stress, emotions, or symptoms?
  • Do you need a long time to recuperate after being with difficult people or energy vampires?

Being an empath is different than being empathetic. Empathy is understanding where someone is coming from or imagining how they must be feeling in a given situation. Being an empath means you can actually feel another person’s emotions – positive or negative – in your own body.

It is theorized that empaths have a highly active “mirror neuron system” in their brains. This system is a specialized group of cells that allow us to feel compassion for others. Hyperactivity in the mirror neuron system causes empaths to feel more deeply. At times, it may be difficult for the empath to differentiate their own feelings from those of someone else.
