How often do you feel frustrated after a conversation?
Maybe you and your partner keep ending up on different pages, or work projects aren’t as efficient as they can be, or you can’t seem to get through to your kids.
Or maybe you just have a whole internal dialogue going that doesn’t exactly match what you’re saying on the outside.
The thing is, we each have so many conversations per day that we don’t think about them much. Think about it. When you try something new, your first thought is to figure out how to do it, so you look up some stuff, or you ask someone.
But if you’ve been doing something your whole life, it’s easier to just keep doing what you’ve always done. So you listen half-heartedly, react emotionally, and respond habitually like you’re on autopilot.
But what if you stopped and asked, “How can I do this better?”
So today, we’re learning to have more conscious conversations.
Our guest is Chuck Wisner. He is a highly sought-after thinker, coach, and teacher in organizational strategy, human dynamics, and leadership communication excellence. He has spent 25 years as a consultant to leaders in high-profile companies like Google, Apple, Tesla, General Motors, and Shell. His methods are anchored in years of leading-edge research, theoretical development, and the practical application of the foundations of conversations. He is also the author of “The Art of Conscious Conversations: Transforming How We Talk, Listen, and Interact.”
We Will Learn
- How our brains, egos, awareness, and autopilot patterns serve or thwart our conversations.
- How to investigate the stories we tell ourselves and deconstruct our own opinions.
- The four universal types of conversations and how to maximize the effectiveness of each.
