Have you ever experienced something that you just never quite got over? A loss, a betrayal, a violation of some sort? Or maybe a memory resurfaced years later, followed by a whole lot of emotions that you never really saw coming.
What I’ve come to understand is that time does not heal all. Time allows some space to do something with the pain. But that something isn’t always productive, especially if we try to let it process itself.
While you may not be crying yourself to sleep at night anymore, you could have a fear of relationships that prevents you from finding a long-term partner. Trust issues might be stopping you from forming close friendships.
So, how do we unpack our emotional suitcases to move through life a little lighter or, even better… fully engaged with the here and now?
That’s what we’re talking about today.
Our guest is Madeline Popelka. She grew up in a household where mental health was never discussed, which was extra hard given she experienced multiple traumatic events. When she started to experience PTSD symptoms in her late twenties, she realized she didn’t know the first step in getting help. As Madeline began her healing journey, she felt the urge to create space for other trauma survivors on Instagram @healingfromptsd, which is now one of the largest trauma healing communities on Instagram. There, she shares her hard-earned lessons on healing, inspiring hundreds of thousands of survivors along their healing journeys. She’s also the author of “You’re Going to Be Okay”.
