Do you ever find yourself caught between wanting acceptance and wanting others to change?
Family has a particular way of amplifying this mental dilemma, especially our mothers.
It’s this tricky thing where we’re trying to be our own person, but we also want that nod from our moms, like, “Hey, you’re doing great.” It’s referred to as the Mother Wound.
It’s about navigating the delicate balance between seeking our mothers’ pride and approval while also honoring our own truths and the unique ways we choose to live our lives, raise our children, and even rest our souls.
So that’s what we’re talking about today. Our guest is one of my favorite people and close friends Ashley Stahl. She’s been on the show a few other times and I’m so glad to have her back.
Although she is currently without children, she’s found that suddenly her relationship with her own mom is experiencing a little more friction than usual. So, as friends tend to do, we’re going deep into our experiences, and as podcasters tend to do, we’re sharing our mess with all of you in hopes that it brings relatability, a little insight, and maybe even some compassion and healing.
Ashley is the author of You Turn: Get Unstuck, Discover Your Direction, and Design Your Dream Career. She is the host of the podcast of the same name.
We Will Learn
- The truth about the barriers hindering open and inquisitive conversations.
