Are you in a toxic relationship?
Signs that you might be, include things like:
- Trusted friends and family have told me that this person is not healthy for me to be around.
- I am belittled through this person’s words and actions.
- My interactions with this person have put me in a constant state of emotional turmoil.
If you’ve found yourself in a toxic relationship, remember, it’s not your fault; however, acknowledging your role in it is the key to taking your power back.
That might mean spotting signs, knowing what you deserve, or finding a way to get out when you realize something is wrong.
But easier said than done, right? Because when you’re in it, it’s hard to see. It sneaks up on you so slowly, like a frog sitting in a pot of water, oblivious that the temperature is rising.
So the question is, how did you get there in the first place? How do you convince yourself you deserve better after who knows how long you’ve been brainwashed to think you don’t? And what are the steps to get out and start to heal?
That’s what we’re talking about today. Our guest is Stephanie Sarkis.
She is a psychotherapist specializing in anxiety, gaslighting, narcissistic abuse, and ADHD. She is the author of eight books and one workbook, including Healing From Toxic Relationships: 10 Essential Steps to Recover from Gaslighting, Narcissism, and Emotional Abuse.
We Will Learn
- How to identify toxic or manipulative people.
